Backend Labs is a software development company that I started with my friend, Jacob Haug. We build apps and other software that makes people's lives easier every day.
The new site is a single-page design, and features an illustrated beaker that I spent a lot of time making, and therefore, am quite proud of.
New paint job!
Client work is always top priority for me, so personal stuff, like my portfolio, sometimes takes a while to finish. However, a while back I was motivated to get my site up on the web, and spent a straight week designing and building it.
In an effort to keep it simple, I built the entire site into one page. Short and to the point.

Squeeze it up!
The Web Squeeze is a web design and development blog that I have been close with since it started in 2008. A few months ago, I was offered the position of Creative Director there, and went to work on a redesign for the site.
The new design has a grungy, papery feel that, I think, gives the online magazine a realistic, physical texture. Like a newspaper, rough yet classy.

Cards for business
One of my big projects is a software development company called Backend Labs. I started it with a friend, and it's going pretty well so far. But anyway, something we really needed for the company was business cards, and this is how they came out.
I must say I really love grungy designs. Old paper, torn edges, rough fonts, that sort of thing. So these business cards really hit my soft spot, design wise. And they're fun to hand out to people, too!
What? Doctors?
Landlord, MD. is an application I built with my friend and business partner, Jacob Haug. It's an application that helps landlords manage their tenants, properties, and financial records.
Along with the user interface, I designed and built the website dedicated to displaying and selling the app. Both are aimed at simplicity and usability.

Folded paper
This is a brochure that I designed for a PHP framework that was developed by my own software development company, Backend Labs. It's not available to the public at the moment, but we presented it to a group of developers a few months ago, and wanted to give them something to take home. A brochure seemed like the appropriate thing.
Apples and laptops
I won't lie, I am a bit of an Apple fanatic. And I know people that are too. So, I started a blog all about Apple with a friend. I know, it's kinda nerdy, but we thought it would be fun.
Anyway, the design is based on the Leopard Aurora, and the site is built on WordPress. Check it out!
Who is this guy?
I’m Stuart Wagner, a young, creative technology enthusiast who loves to design web sites, user interfaces, print media, and branding, while spending the other half of the day building applications, backend systems, and other useful bits of software, leaving only a few hours a week to host a local radio show that satisfies my hunger for music. I’ve been designing and developing for four years now, and started Lukado Designs in 2009 in order to make even more people happy with the work that I love doing every day.
